CCGC Officer Training Program

The Canadian Coast Guard College is the national training institution for the Canadian Coast Guard. Programming is delivered to Canadians who are interested in a sea-going career as a Marine Engineering Officer or Marine Navigation Officer with the Canadian Coast Guard. Many employment benefits include paid-education and a monthly allowance.

Upon acceptance to the Canadian Coast Guard Officer Training Program, candidates are referred to as an Officer Cadets and become employees of the Public Service of Canada.

These employment Benefits of the program are received in the understanding that an Officer Cadet gives a commitment to serve with the Canadian Coast Guard for a period of time after graduation.

If you are selected for the Canadian Coast Guard Officer Training Program, you will receive the following employment benefits:

  • Paid education
  • Textbooks
  • Training costs
  • Room and board
  • Coast Guard uniforms
  • Training courses
  • Two periods of practical sea training
  • Federal Public Servant Benefits:
    • Medical and Dental plans
    • Four weeks of annual leave
    • Pensionable service during four-year training program
    • A monthly allowance

Applicants, who currently have student loans, may apply for a deferral of payment for their student loans until after they graduate from the Canadian Coast Guard College. The decision rests with Canada Student Loans.
