EECOL Electric has a scholarship award for students in western Canada, who are in financial need, and are entering their first year of an engineering, electrical, technology, or construction-related program. The award is inspired by Darren L. Buium and is worth $1,500 CAD.

Darren Buium began his career at EECOL in 1979 and over 40 years held almost every position in the company, including Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Regional Manager, VP Sales, and COO. On October 1, 2013 he assumed the leadership role as EECOL's President.

Darren believed that if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life. He was a visionary leader and had a flair for inspiring others to action in order to create a better future and solve problems in new and creative ways. He embodied and strengthened the EECOL culture and prided himself in meeting the needs of EECOL's customers the "EECOL Way." Darren didn't see customers as numbers. He saw real people with real needs, and gained a genuine sense of fulfillment and purpose from taking care of those needs.

Darren's vision and commitment propelled EECOL to its present position in the industry. His hard work has ensured EECOL's success well into the next 100 years.
