Stories of Self-Love and Making Good Decisions
Two Indigenous students share their personal journeys of self-discovery.
Two Bow Valley College students — Tyrene Saddleback and Connie Shepherd — share their journey toward recovery, identity, education, and connection to their Indigenous culture.
These affirmations are part of the "Ambassadors — Leaders Within Community" project for the Essential Skills Program for Indigenous Foundational Learning.
"The importance of Indigenous learners to speak their truth, the empowerment to discover their self-identity is the most important to me for Indigenous learners as an instructor to support Truth and Reconciliation at Bow Valley College," says Joanna Tzavaras, an Indigenous Upgrading Instructor in the School of Foundational Learning.
