Discover your scholarship opportunities

As a student out of high school entering your first year of university, you have plenty of scholarship opportunities available to you.

Automatic entrance scholarships

These awards save you so much time and effort in applying to scholarships. How? Because you don’t need to apply! That’s right! When you submit your final high school admission averages, you’ll automatically be evaluated for an entrance scholarship. There are two types of automatic entrance scholarships:

The McMaster University Award of Excellence

Value: $3,000

The McMaster University Award of Excellence is meant to celebrate the academic achievements of students entering their first year. To be eligible for the award, you must be an incoming high school student entering the first year of your first baccalaureate degree program. Based on your final high school admission average, you must be in the top 10% of the Faculty of Engineering. The top 10% of students typically achieve a GPA of 98%+ in high school.

Faculty-specific Achievement Awards

Value: $3,000 ($2,000 for Bachelor of Technology students)

This award was created to celebrate the academic achievements of incoming first year students. To be eligible for the award, you must be an incoming high school student entering the first year of your first baccalaureate degree program with a final admission average of 95%+ (or 90%+ for Bachelor of Technology students).

Keep in mind that you can receive either the Award of Excellence or the Faculty-specific Achievement Award, not both.

Application-based entrance scholarships

There is over $1,000,000 in scholarships and research awards available, and the best part is you only need to submit one application to be considered for all the awards!

The one application you’ll need to complete will ask you to:

  • Showcase your extracurricular involvement
  • Highlight any employment, volunteer, and/or entrepreneurship experiences you’ve had
