The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established in October 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university.
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship provides funds to fully cover a scholars' tuition costs. This would typically be between £30,000 - £45,000 per year. The exact amount will depend on the specific course fee and course length and whether the student is in receipt of any other funding awards.
Additional funding from this scholarship can be used to cover incidental costs, too, like flights, visas, and even living expenses. Especially helpful when you're visiting from abroad and don't have the normal resources of home.
Value of award: £24,850 - £51,700 (annual) (approximately $38,000 - $78,000 CAD)

Trinity External Research Studentships are intended for students who wish to undertake a PhD (or MPhil with an intention to continue to PhD) at the University of Cambridge.
There is no application form to be considered for Trinity External Research Studentships: candidates who have been offered membership at Trinity College will automatically be considered on the basis of their University of Cambridge application.

Interested in primary care as a career? If healthcare is your passion, and you have a soft spot for aiding the elderly, consider the Malati Kanbur fund, a £50,000 award for a student pursuing primary care research at Cambridge's Lucy Cavendish College.
All applicants who select Lucy Cavendish as their first choice college and select Primary Care Research as their first theme choice in the application form will automatically be considered for this scholarship. The winning student will be supervised by Professor Jonathan Mant, Head of Primary Care Unit, and be interested in focusing on stroke and elderly research in their dissertation.
