While education is a worthy investment, financing your education shouldn’t cause undue hardship. There are several opportunities available at Thompson Rivers University to help graduate students fund their futures.

Ken Lepin Graduate Student Award: Five awards valued at $5,000 each are available to students in their first or second year of a graduate program. The awards are given on the basis of outstanding academic achievement in course work and research.

TRU Graduate Student Research Mentor Fellowships: These awards go to students engaged in research who wish to serve as mentors to undergraduate students. Mentors work as a team, pooling resources and collaborating with faculty. At least nine fellowships are awarded annually, valued at $7,000 each.

TRU MBA Entrance Award: Up to 15 awards are available to domestic applicants to the MBA program. Recipients will be notified of their success at the time of admission.

Environmental Science and Natural Resource Science Fellowship: This fellowship was created by an anonymous donor for the development of two awards valued at $7,500 each. Recipients are selected based on their scholarly achievement, commitment to research and demonstrated potential for future contributions to our understanding of the environment.

Three Minute Thesis: Each spring, TRU graduate students take part in the 3MT, an internationally recognized communication competition. The winner receives $1,000 and advances to the Western Canadian Finals.

At TRU, you’re encouraged to contribute to the creation of knowledge under the guidance of a funded researcher as a Graduate Research Assistant, or participate as a Teaching Assistant. There are many valuable ways to earn an income and gain skills as a researcher and instructor.
