Hands-On Learning will Return to Ontario Colleges in July
In-person instruction will resume next month so students can complete their programs.
The Ontario government has announced a return to on-campus instruction across a range of college programs beginning in July.
In-person, hands-on learning
In March, in-person classes were put on hold due to the pandemic. Many students in programs with hands-on, practical components — like the trades, forestry, and healthcare technology — were left wondering how they'd finish their programs. This return to on-campus learning is a welcome relief.
Of course, safety protocols will be in place, including physical distancing, cleaning routines, and the safe use of protective gear (PPE) like masks and gloves. The province, along with Ontario colleges, will monitor progress and adjust accordingly.
For now, online delivery will continue for programs without hands-on components. Still, the return of labs and workshops at Ontario's colleges is a great step.
