It's Canada Day, which offers a chance for us all to reflect on our history and look to the future. July 1st gives us each the opportunity to think about what the country means to us, and how we can make Canada a more just and equitable place.
Truth and reconciliation
2021 has been a tragic year. With the discovery of more than 215 children buried at the site of the Kamloops Residential School, and 751 unmarked graves at the Marieval Indian Residential School, the notion of truth and reconciliation has been top-of-mind. These devastating revelations illustrate how past trauma affects the present, and force us to confront the inequities of our shared history.

No matter what you're doing this Canada Day, consider taking a moment of silence at 7 pm on July 1. Give a few quiet moments to contemplate what you're grateful for, and how we can pull together to improve upon the failures of the past.
