The Think Big Scholarship and Development Programme at the University of Bristol

The Think Big Development Programme is offered to all Think Big international scholarship recipients, as well as selected recipients of partner international scholarships.

What is the Think Big Development Programme?

At the University of Bristol, students are encouraged to achieve their full potential through their academic studies, leadership opportunities, and personal development.

The Think Big Development Programme gives scholarship recipients the opportunity to become part of a supportive international student community, share their experiences, and make the most of their time at the University of Bristol.

The five Think Big qualities

  • Think big and be ambitious
  • Cultivate self-awareness
  • Plan your life in Bristol and beyond strategically
  • Take risks and be proactive
  • Communicate with enthusiasm and build meaningful connections

Who is eligible for the programme?

The Think Big Development Programme is offered to Think Big international scholarship recipients, as well as selected recipients of partner international scholarship programmes.

Why take part?

Taking part in the programme can help you:

  • Meet other Think Big scholars and build your network
  • Develop skills that support your studies and future career
  • Gain confidence in sharing ideas and experiences
  • Take part in events throughout the academic year

What does the programme involve?

In addition to a tuition fee discount, the programme offered a range of networking and development activities in 2025-26. These included the in-person Think Big Welcome Reception and the online and in-person Think Big workshop series.

These events gave scholars opportunities to share ideas, build networks, develop skills, and exchange experiences while forming meaningful connections.

Think Big scholars also had the opportunity to apply for paid student ambassador roles. Think Big Ambassadors share their experiences of receiving the scholarship and studying at Bristol with prospective students. They receive guidance on content creation while developing employability skills and professional visibility.

How can I apply?

You are eligible for the Think Big Development Programme if you are selected as a Think Big scholarship recipient. Visit the University of Bristol website for information about applying for scholarships as an international student.
