Five Ways To Make The Most Of Life On Campus

University is an opportunity to discover who you are and where you are heading!

University is an opportunity to discover who you are and where you are heading, in a supportive environment. It’s an opportunity to learn new skills, meet people and make some important decisions on what you want to do in life. Here are a few tips on making the most of your time at university:

  1. 1. Find Your Tribe: find people with similar interests by joining clubs … most universities have a whole range of clubs available, from Aboriginal drum circles, to astronomy, to Japanese Anime. If you don’t like what’s on offer, start your own club!
  2. 2. Stay Fit! University is not all about partying, and it’s definitely not an excuse to become a couch potato. Check out the sports facilities and gym, schedule some fitness classes between assignments, join a running club! Does your university have a pool? Great – schedule in some early morning swims to de-stress.
  3. 3. Check out Events: find out about events happening on and off-campus – job fairs (who doesn’t need a part-time job to supplement the student loans?), International Days and Study Abroad Fairs. If you’re just starting university, Freshers’ Week is a great orientation for your university life.
  4. 4. Listen and Read: check the news online on a daily basis to keep up-to-date with current affairs. Read student newspapers and listen to your university’s radio station for all the latest university gossip.
  5. 5. Stay Connected: don’t forgot to stay in touch with your family and friends outside of university. Tapping into your support system that you had before going to university can be a big help if you need a different perspective.
