3 great tips for the exam and midterm season!

Midterm season can be a very stressful time for any student. All of the studying and note-making can sometimes feel overwhelming. And that’s okay. Midterms and exams can be more difficult and time-consuming compared to a typical project or assignment. But you should always remember that although it may seem hard, it’s not impossible. Here are some great tips that you can use to make the midterm season a lot easier.

Turn to friends and peers!

Your friends can be very helpful when it comes to studying. Group study sessions are never a bad idea, as you can all teach one another a thing or two about a particular topic or subject. If group studying isn’t for you though, your peers are still a great source of knowledge, so (kindly) asking them questions about things you’re unsure about is a good idea. Your peers and friends are also great for emotional support and motivation, especially in the lead-up to a midterm or exam.

Look into resources from your school

Alternatively, you can turn to your school for academic and emotional support. Mona, a University of Waterloo student ambassador, highlights on-campus resources to help students with their writing, studying and research skills, and more. Plus, your professors can be very helpful too.

Take care of yourself

Finally, there’s a lot that you can do to ensure your success. Creating a study schedule can be an awesome way to manage your time. Study breaks, like hanging out with your friends or even just getting a good amount of sleep, will prevent any ‘burnout’ that you may could from studying.
