Description:The Language Teacher Education Program (LTEP) is designed for students from Indigenous communities and French communities within Saskatchewan and across Canada who wish to teach Prekindergarten to Grade 8 educational programs that offer Cree and French.

LTEP courses within this new program route will focus on second language pedagogy, curricula and assessment knowledge as well as specific attention to culture, identity and language revitalization. Providing Cree and French Education courses will deepen the professional study for teacher candidates and respects the Saskatchewan Professional Teacher Regulatory Board (SPTRB) requirements for teacher certification in Saskatchewan.

  •  Grade12 Biology  or  Grade12 Chemistry  or  Grade12 Physics  or  Grade12 Earth and Space Science 
  •  Grade12 History  or  Grade12 Social Studies  or  Grade12 Native Studies 
  •  Grade12 Mathematics  or  Grade12 Precalculus 

  • 30-level language other than English or a Fine/Performing Art
Two deficiencies among above subjects are permitted but must be cleared prior to entering second year of study. Transfer students (with 18 transferable credits) do not need to meet these pre-requisite requirements.

Test Scores:
  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) or DuoLingo or Pearson Test of English (Academic) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based)
