Description:

Social workers strive to advance social justice and equity for individuals, families, groups and communities. In the Social Work degree program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), you'll learn how processes of marginalization and oppression shape people's experiences and access to resources, power, and social and health services. You'll gain experience through 700 hours of placements at local or international organizations, live actor simulations and opportunities to work on community projects. With a focus on social justice, you'll be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to advocate and work effectively in a variety of settings. After graduation, you'll be eligible for membership in the Ontario Association of Social Workers, and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

Admission Requirements

  •  Grade12 English  or  Grade12 English (EAE4U)  or  Grade12 English (ENG4U) 

Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%, and the following required Grade 12 U courses (minimum grade of 65% in each):

  • English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)

Applicants not educated in Ontario must submit evidence of education equivalent to the OSSD with six Grade 12 U or M courses.
