Applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate command of English sufficient to pursue graduate studies at SFU through the completion of an English language competency examination with the below minimum scores. Examinations must be taken within two years of the application deadline, and results must be valid at the time of the deadline. IELTS Academic Test (International English Language Testing Service) - a minimum overall score of 7 is required with a minimum score of 6.5 in each section of the academic (NOT general) test; TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - a minimum overall score of 93 is required for the internet based test with a minimum score of 20 in each section; a minimum score of 580 is required for the paper based test.
