DescriptionAs a school counselor, you can make a positive difference in students' lives by helping them with career and college development, academic development and with social and emotional skills. In this streamlined program, you'll earn two degrees in 6 - 7 years if attending full time: a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in School Counseling.

As you progress through your Psychology program, you can select courses to meet qualifications for the MHRT/C (Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician/Community) certification in addition to earning a bachelor's degree. Upon graduation with your master's degree, you'll be eligible for certification as a PK-12 school counselor from the Maine Department of Education. (See requirements in other states for licensure or certification as a school counselor). The MS in School Counseling program is CACREP accredited and thereby meets national accreditation requirements.
