| Description | The Computer Science Masters by Research programme is an advanced postgraduate research degree that emphasizes independent study of practice-led research. Working with a supervisor and on a specific subject area the programme allows students to focus on research. The degree exists to train researchers, which can lead onto professional work or used in preparation for a PhD. It can provide useful experience of what a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) is like. The programme will follow typical research strategies of the topic of study, including related research, consider ethical viewpoints, look at alternative designs, development and implementation of suitable solutions, and evaluation of the work. As part of the programme, students will be encouraged to write appropriate research papers, publish the results of their research, promote and communicate their research publicly with presentations and conferences.
